WHO IS DESERT WIND ENTERPRISES?

Desert Wind Enterprises is a family of businesses specializing in the comic book and comic collectible industry. Beginning with Desert Wind Comics which originally started back in 2000 when founder Chandler Rice rediscovered his love for comic books after seeing the X-Men movie that year. Starting out collecting comic books turned into getting his comic books signed and graded. In 2007, Desert Wind Comics began its commercial business of getting comic books and memorabilia autographed and graded by CGC for friends and customers. Since that time, Desert Wind Comics, also known as DWC, has grown into the premier company for getting your comic memorabilia signed as well as graded. Located in Las Vegas, DWC has become a leader in the comic book collectible signature and authentication industry. DWC has been responsible for getting in excess of 200,000 CGC submissions and has obtained over 500,000 signatures for DWC customers since 2007 in the comic book industry, while attending over 300 conventions and signings in that time, which spread across North America and Europe. Signatures include legendary comic book creators such as Stan Lee, John Romita, Herb Trimpe, Gene Colan, Joe Simon, Jerry Robinson, Neal Adams, Sal Buscema, Todd McFarlane, John Romita Jr and the list goes on. Celebrities such as Star War's Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, David Prowse or Walking Dead's Chandler Riggs, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Danai Gurira or David Morrissey and many other cast members. How about Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Sigourney Weaver, Sylvester Stallone and many others. DWC has been and continues to be the company to call on to get your memorabilia signed. That makes DWC your home for really cool collectibles. And DWC is your source for getting your own comic collectibles signed and graded. Since 2007, Desert Wind Comics continues to be the largest provider of signing opportunities in the world. We attend 30+ comic conventions, or comic cons as some would call them, as well as numerous private signings every year. Nobody has more chances to get comic collectibles signed in the industry. DWC provides signature and witnessing services through signing opportunities to comic fans and collectors.

In 2013, Celestial Comics joined the Desert Wind family becoming its retail store location in Las Vegas, NV. Quickly earning its reputation as a leader in the local Las Vegas market as the largest CGC Signature Series provider of signed and graded comic books to its customers. Celestial Comics became home to CGC fans all over to submit their books to get signed and graded.

This fee is specific to each item or book submitted to Desert Wind Comics. Please go to our pricing tab to find pricing information. The return shipping fee which is an extra fee is calculated based on the total number of items to be shipped back to you. Please note that you are responsible to get the collectible to our office by the posted submission deadline.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you walk out of the area with the book and then decide to come back to the area to submit the book, Desert Wind Comics can NO LONGER accept that item to be Certified in the DWC certification program. DWC rules are very specific that if the item that is signed leaves the eyesight of the witnessthen that item is then considered ineligible to be certified. NO EXCEPTIONS!

WHAT IF I WANT THE SIGNATURE IN A SPECIFIC SPOT OR COLOR?

TWO ways to indicate where you want the signature:

1. Cut a piece of paper the size of the comic book. Cut out a rectangular hole 2” x 4” in the area where you want the signature to be. Place this piece of paper over your comic book inside the comic bag. This is the preferred method.

2. Photocopy the cover of your book and mark on the photocopy and include the photocopy with your submission form. Please make sure you allow a 2” x 4” area to sign. You don’t want the person signing it feel like they need to make their signature a little spec on the cover. So leave plenty of space to sign. And try to stay away from the edges of the book. Please note that some creators do have their favorite spots to sign in and they may decide to sign in that spot instead of where you asked. If you want a color other than black or silver then you must include the color pen to be used. MAKE SURE you try out the pen first. DO NOT use pens that take more than a few seconds to dry otherwise you run the risk of the signature smearing.

HOW DO I PACKAGE THE BOOKS UP TO SHIP TO YOU?

Simply slide the book inside of a bag and board and then place 2 pieces of thick cardboard on each side of the bag. Use MINIMAL amount of tape in securing the book. You do NOT need to use a whole roll of packing tape to secure one book. Remember the more tape you use the higher the chance the book could get damaged while removing the tape from around the book. Wrap a few layers of bubble wrap around the cardboard surrounding the book. Again only use a single piece of tape to secure the bubble wrap. Then place the package in a box and seal the box. Ship it to Desert Wind Comics. Ask yourself how easy you can get the book out of the package and bubble wrap and cardboard while you are wrapping. If it is tough for you then it will be tough of us as well. Please do NOT use peanut packing as it can shift around in the box and allow the book to get damaged. REMEMBER THAT TAPE IS A BOOK’S ENEMY!

WHAT IF MY BOOK HAS ALREADY BEEN GRADED?

SHOULD I REMOVE IT BEFORE SHIPPING IT TO DWC?

You may wish to ship the book in the hard shell for protective reasons but Desert Wind Comics does charge a fee to remove the book from the encasement. Please see the pricing page for details. The hard shell can act as a protective barrier when shipping the book and we have experience in opening all grading company cases. Absolutely do not remove books that have previously been signed and have a Yellow Signature Program label. If you remove the book from the graded book shell you will nullify the signature certification. NO EXCEPTIONS!

WHY USE DESERT WIND COMICS OVER ANOTHER COMPANY?

Desert Wind Comics has been offering their services since 2007, which is longer then anyone else in the collectible industry. This is our FULL TIME BUSINESS. We have handled in excess of 200,000 comic books that have been submitted to be graded and have obtained over 400,000 signatures for its customers. Desert Wind Comics carries TRUE collectible insurance to cover its customers collectibles and has a staff working in a real office to service your books and your needs. We don't work out of our home using a P.O. Box. So in short, Desert Wind Comics is a REAL BUSINESS to provide you with a REAL SERVICE. We attend more shows and signings and get signatures from more comic book creators and celebrities then anyone else. Nobody offers you what Desert Wind Comics can. That's why you should be using Desert Wind Comics!

MY BOOK HAS ALREADY BEEN SIGNED, CAN YOU GET IT GRADED?

Desert Wind Comics can get your book graded but NOT with the Yellow Signature Series label.  Once the book has been signed and left the pressence of the witness, no COA, video or personal statement will qualify that signature to be authorized by CGC for the Yellow label.  Your book will get graded with a Green Qualified Label and the label will read 'Name written on cover'.  If an additional signature gets witnessed, you will get a Yellow and Green label but the unwitnessed signature will read 'Name written on cover' and the grade of the book will be lower because of the previous, unwitnessed autograph.
